The fourth skill acquired through PhDs that I want to talk about is editing. I never realised how polished and efficient my editing skills were until I started working in the industry. I am now the ‘go to’ proof reader of reports in my office as I am quick and precise and pick up on small errors that other people miss. I think I can thank both the years of writing / polishing / and responding to peer reviewed comments and also the mountains of marking I did throughout my PhD and continue to do for this ability. Discuss these skills in your CV, as attention to detail is vital for all types of written content.
